welcome, Theo!
Soon after I posted my last entry we had an amazing surprise. On New Year’s Eve I took the boys to buy fireworks while Katie picked up dim sum for our New Year’s dinner. After we all got home, she told me she felt like perhaps the baby was coming earlier than anticipated (she wasn’t due until January 22). So we loaded up the car and sure enough, a few hours later, we were parents of three, a family of five, and officially outnumbered! So, though we have been celebrating him publicly on socials and at home, I have not introduced him officially on the blog. Say hi to Theodore James Robinson!
Theo has been a great distraction for me during this “waiting” period of my cancer journey. I realized when planning this post that I really don’t talk about my boys on here, so I will try to do a better job of profiling them. They’re really fascinating, sweet kids.
I have had a blast doing this all over again with a third boy! But he certainly came into our lives faster than we expected. When Katie and I went to the hospital, we took our overnight bag as just a precaution. We never anticipated we’d need it. When the delivery team came in and told us we’d be having a baby, our jaws were on the floor. But I’ll say that it was a much better overall birthing experience (from Katie’s own words, of course for me it’s not like I can make a comment on that) and it felt like we were back home in record time.
Theo is now two months old, staying awake more, making silly faces, and most importantly SLEEPING REALLY REALLY WELL. As I type this I am searching anywhere for some wood to knock on.
So this post is short and sweet, just like Theo. I have more things to say, and will, before my scans on Monday. But for now I am choosing to relax and enjoy my newest little guy. I’m a blessed guy. And also writing this post reminded me, we still haven’t had that dim sum…
