Update on the St. Jude Fundraiser
Since we’re at the halfway point of my 62 Miles for St. Jude fundraising challenge I thought I’d give a little status update. The generous donations of family and friends has netted a total (at the time of this writing) of $840! The original goal was $250, and after meeting that goal I bumped the amount to $500. Then $750, and now $1,000. This is the final “goal,” though I would love to see even that amount completely smashed and surpassed. I’m totally blown away by the generosity. Thank you all.
On the other side of the challenge – not related to money – I have walked/run 32.5 miles of the 62 required, with more to come today. The action here is obviously secondary to the donations given, but I feel it is still important to let you all know that I am doing my part to earn those dollars you give. To reiterate the importance of this fundraiser, keep in mind that St. Jude provides its services free of charge to patients and their families. That’s something we can all hopefully agree is a beautiful thing.
If you can, give a donation at this link. To be completely clear: I don’t receive any of this money, nor does Facebook take a cut. It all goes directly to St. Jude. So if you have even a spare $2, consider donating before the end of this month. Let’s push this through together!
Thank you again for your time and generosity.
This post written in memory of Katie’s childhood friend, my adulthood friend, and brave cancer warrior Valerie.
