sick days
A neat trick I learned back in my Xanga days was that if I felt exhausted or restless or overwhelmed but STILL needed to post, I could just make a blog entry filled with pictures. It’s like when your favorite TV show has a flashback episode…it’s lazy, but it gets the job done.
I won’t lie – this post is going to be just that. Mostly. But first, a quick exposition.
We are stuck at home this weekend, and we weren’t supposed to be. Yesterday the boys came home with what we thought was probably a case of pink eye - confirmed by our pediatrician today. We were planning to go travel to Mississippi, but with all of the kids sick (and Katie & I likely to catch it as well), we decided to cancel. I’m disappointed. It’s been a while since I’ve been back home. We were going to see my Grandma as well as my uncle, but we certainly did not want to get anyone sick. We will reschedule, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t frustrating. It’s the joy of having little ones…they always get sick.
I’m slightly nervous since I’d prefer to not be sick for the scans on Monday, but what are you gonna do?
Today was a challenge. We both had to work and that wasn’t easy. But rather than harp on that, I’ll share some pictures. That’s more fun anyway. Besides, every time I’m stuck in the house with these kids, I try to remember that this time is fleeting and that I should make the most of it. So here we go!
They look sick here, but don’t let that fool you. They were begging for Sesame Street, and when they got it, they were bouncing off the walls.
Theo helping Mommy with some important work stuff. Her calendar didn’t have enough time slots for diaper changes which truly seemed to offend him.
This was moments after I messaged coworkers that I would be fully on and ready to work, foolishly assuming my kids would comply. This kid wouldn’t sleep without being held…but that isn’t so bad.
The kids with their tablets. Blippi for Jack, Thomas for Evan, a game where you smack mice for Tonks.
Diet, schmiet. When you’re completely wiped after watching sick kids all day, it’s pizza time.
Jack was too cool to join, but this crew is a lot of fun.
And finally…Siwi. He’s the fourth Betta we’ve bought, but we’ve kept the same name for all four. My kids are gonna think fish live forever.
